I Survived A Marathon! No, Not That Kind… (Ultimate Captain America Marathon)

Yesterday I attended the Ultimate Captain America Marathon at a local Regal theatre! It was a 5 film marathon featuring Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron, and than Civil War! This post will mainly be about the marathon itself and not Civil War thoughts. I honestly need to see it again to gather all my feels. But yeah, about the marathon! I’m so glad I was able to attend. Originally they weren’t bringing it near me since it was more than 3 films, so when they announced they a local Regal would be doing it, I snatched up tickets faster than Pietro runs. I was so excited to see some of my favorite films again on the big screen, especially Winter Soldier!

We got to the theatre about an hour and a half early. Based on the Star Wars marathon, we knew the earlier the better. Turns out the theater wasn’t *as* prepared and we didn’t end up getting seated until 30 minutes before The First Avenger started. Once in, we got comfy and prepared our feels for an entire marathon of Captain America! I really loved seeing The First Avenger on screen again cause Bucky/Cap/Peggy feels. I always seem to notice something new, mainly character development. I will admit, I did fall asleep for like 10 minutes at one point due to only have 2 hours of sleep beforehand. Sorry, Cap!

Our medal for doing the marathon!

Next was The Avengers which is always a classic, than Winter Soldier (which I was most excited about), Age of Ultron (gets better with each viewing), and than CIVIL WAR! I think I enjoyed seeing Winter Soldier on screen the most out of them all mainly cause it’s my favorite MCU film and Bucky. But than Civil War happened. I’ll save all my Civil War thoughts for later cause I have so many, but I will say that the marathon went by really fast. Star Wars felt like it went on for forever (in a good way), but this time it felt as if we’d just arrived by time we’d left. Which I guess is a good thing, but I honestly didn’t want it to be over with. It was just so much fun! I really hope they do another marathon for the next Cap film cause I’ll so be there. Oh and did I mention that there was a merch stand at the end of the film? No? Cause they had exclusive merch! I may have got a few things. Oh and the theater even had some popcorn buckets and a cup!

Got the one featuring them all!

All in all, it was a perfect day. I really enjoyed spending the day with all my MCU friends. I just really need to go see Civil War again. And again. And again. Also I need Infinity War and Black Panther ASAP. Now to figure out how to write up my Civil War thoughts… Hmmm…

I’m Going Back to Wizard World Philly!

IT’S TRUE! I will be attending Wizard World Philadelphia yet again this June for a weekend extravaganza with friends and the Marvel cast! (Yes, you read that correctly!) Last week, Tuesday to be exact, Wizard World announced that Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Hayley Atwell, Dominic Cooper, and TOM HIDDLESTON would be coming to Philly. I read this email (That Barb sent me, so thank you, Barb!) with so much excitement as we hurried to get my wisdom teeth pulled out and within 5 minutes me and my mom had bought a Tom Hiddleston VIP package. And Deidre has bought one as well. And Barb bought the WS one. We’re Marvel trash to the extreme you guys. By the end of the day we’d already have gotten our hotel and everything and had roped in our other friends (Brit and Katy!) to go as well! (Keyword: Extreme)

So this is now a thing that is happening in June. And not only did we buy the Tom Hiddleston VIP, we also got a Chris Hemsworth photo op and Evans/Atwell photo op. And we’re only like 60% done with purchasing photo ops. I still need to grab Sebastian Stan (WHO I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE AGAIN!!!!!!), Frank Grillo, David Duchovny, and possibly Dominic Cooper? I honestly don’t know how I’ll be able to fit all these in in a 2-day time span but we’ll see. I’ve accomplished more in less time, so I’m determined. Oh, and Sebs autograph cause duh. I’m so, so excited to head back to Philly to see everyone! It’s been so long since I’ve gotten to hang with my friends and we’re so serious about this and I just- I digress. I had to give up one con for this though; C2E2. But it’s no biggie cause this will be a million times better and I’m actually getting to meet people I’ve only ever dreamed of. It’s so funny too cause my Wizard World New Orleans trip fell through this past January (to meet Chris Evans) and now this popped up and I’m so shocked/amazed. I literally can’t even, you guys. This doesn’t feel real. AHHHH. Anyways, please expect loads of photos/updates when the time comes. Cause it’s gonna be one hell of a ride.

Organa Test

Welcome to a brand new post, in collaboration with Common Room! This post has been in the making for a few months now. More so, the idea of this post. It’s actually September 3rd as I’m writing this for the first time and I’m still not 100% sure where this will go. Will it be one post? Multiple posts? A series? Who knows, but that’s the fun in writing. Letting your fingers type as much or as little as they’re inspired. But let’s get to it…

What is the Bechdel Test?

The Bechdel test, (/ˈbɛkdəl/ bek-dəl), also known as the Bechdel-Wallace test,[1] asks if a work of fiction features at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man. The requirement that the two women must be named is sometimes added.

Only about half of all films meet these requirements. The test is used as an indicator for the active presence of women in films and other fiction, and to call attention to gender inequality in fiction due to sexism.[2] – via Wikipedia

Organa Test?

The Organa test is something me and Hadas from Common Room came up with. Since The Force Awakens is coming up and we wanted to celebrate the countdown to films release, we wanted to create a Star Wars type of test where we could celebrate todays capable ladies! It’s comparable to the Bechdel Test (see above), but only in the way the Bechdel Test is used to test all media. We’ll be doing the same, just using our Organa Test to breakdown todays characters, whether that be film, TV shows, or books.

54ad4744d5bb5Anyone who knows me knows how strongly I feel about the women in the Star Wars universe. For instance, how little there are. In the prequel trilogy, there were more women included than original, but also in the original, there was mainly Leia and Beru. And while I could go on all day as to why there should’ve been more female representation in the original trilogy, it was a big step at the time. Leia was an authoritative figure, a Senator. She’s such a strong leader and it’s prevalent throughout all the films, making her one of the best role models to date. And while the original Star Wars trilogy doesn’t pass the Bechdel Test by any means (Sad, I know.), that doesn’t make Leia any less of a badass character or the movies anything less than amazing. But this thought process got us thinking; how does Leia hold up to the strong characters portrayed in todays media? Here enters the Organa test.

STWARSLEIA002covBefore going on any further, let me make one thing clear: I WILL NOT BE PITTING CHARACTER AGAINST CHARACTER! I wanted to make that clear, right off the bat because I’m not for any of that at all. For example, I don’t think you can honestly put Leia up against Mako from Pacific Rim and point out why which is better or which is worst because they’re both super awesome, totally badass characters who deserve a whole lot of credit. Our main goal is to highlight the Organa’s, specifically Leia herself. We want to showcase how well written of a character Leia is, how her character has influenced many characters to date, and how certain
characters in todays media have the similiar qualities to Leia herself. Basically this will be a Leia lovefest. Oh well.

I hope you all will join in, maybe share your favorite Leia moments, what you’re looking forward too in The Force Awakens (SPOILER FREE), and what movies or TV shows you think Leia has had a huge impression on. Let us know in the comments below or tweet me directly right here. See you guys soon!

Her Universe Fashion Show 2015

The Her Universe Fashion Show happened during San Diego Comic Con 2015 just last week and I have one word: WOW! I always love attending the Her Universe Fashion Show. It’s always such a fun event, empowering geek girls (and guys) everywhere. Between the music, the fashion, the judges, the audience, and Ashley herself, there’s so much energy that I felt I could start my own clothing line. (Kidding! That’s why I buy HU.)

Lots of news was announced during the show. Her Universe announced it was start carrying Spirited Away merch exclusively at Hot Topic. They also announced… A TV SHOW! Yep, Her Universe will have its own series available online via Lionsgate exclusively through the SDCC SVOD service starting next year. The show will cover this years fashion show and all the hard work that went into it! I’m VERY excited about this news and I can tell everyone behind HU is beyond ecstatic! So expect me to review every episode as it airs next year because it will be the best show ever, I can guarantee it!

Anyways, I got to watch the fashion show with the SDCC crew! It was awesome hearing everyone’s thoughts on each outfit. We also were freaking out over the gift bags which included a Darth Vader Itty Bitty and Her Universe cookies! And while waiting for it to start, Nina and Gwen spotted Alex Hirsch aka the creator of Gravity Falls. He was so nice! He also takes some great selfies!

Check out all of the photos I took during the fashion show below! I took so many, so sorry if they’re out of order or if an outfit or two is missing!

Did you attend the Her Universe Fashion Show? What did you think?!

We’re all SO happy that people actually watched and we had such a blast doing it, that we’ll be back! Yessir, #PeggysPeeps will be bringing back the hangouts starts next month! What will we be watching this time? DAREDEVIL! We’ll be recapping the Netflix series week by week going over what we loved and what we hated. I can’t wait to get those started. 5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Fandom Accessories I Own

It’s time for my (very) late 5 Fandom Friday post! This weeks topic is our favorite accessories we own! Now, I own way too many, so this post was very hard for me. Let’s see what I can scrounge up.

I love my Winter Soldier hoodie is my absolute favorite! I got it for Christmas and love it to death. I always feel like I can rip off a car door when wearing it. Oh yeah.

My Friday the 13th jersey is pretty prized among my possessions. I take Friday the 13th (movie and holiday) very seriously, as you can tell.

I love my fandom buttons! I collect ’em wherever I go! I always buy them, but never wear them due to the fear of losing them. Huh.

My interactive Harry Potter wand one of my all time favorite things! I love it so much and used to carry it with me everywhere I went. I even have a wand holder.

As far as boots go, these Marvel boots are pretty amazing. Yes, I may like my Doc Marten a tiny bit better, but Marvel combat boots? You have me sold!

That’s it for this weeks (late) 5 Fandom Friday! Make sure to stay tuned this Friday for the next one and make sure to read last weeks post incase you missed it!
